Here are a few notes regarding these dividend focused ETFs:

While all of these ETFs focus on dividend yielding companies, the criteria that is used differs from ETF to ETF. Some ETFs select dividend aristocrats, which are companies have increased or maintained their dividends each year. A minimum of ten years of consecutive increases is a common standard in ETFs that use this approach. Other ETFs select the highest yielding companies from a specific index or other group of companies. Another approach is to use a variety of fundamental criteria in the selection of companies.
Some of these ETFs include companies from the United States while others exclude U.S. companies. When the U.S. is included, the ETF tends to be weighted towards U.S. stocks.
While it varies from ETF to ETF, companies from Australia, Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom are also commonly well represented.
In many other global ETFs that do not focus on dividends it is very common for the ETF to be comprised of a large number of stocks. ETFs with 800-1400 companies are not uncommon. While there are a few examples of global dividend ETFs having a large number of companies, it is far more common for these ETFs to be comprised of 100 to 200 stocks.
