Large-Cap Property and Casualty Insurance Companies

U.S. Exchanges

List of Publicly Traded Large-Cap Property and Casualty Insurance Companies Listed on U.S. Exchanges

The common theme among these companies is the fact they all provide property and casualty (P&C) insurance. Property and casualty insurance is what protects you if damage occurs to your car, home or business. What can differentiate one company from one another is the specific area of P&C insurance in which the company focuses. For example, Progressive Insurance (PGR) offers a range of insurance products but its primary focus is auto insurance. Markel (MKL) does not sell traditional P&C insurance but instead offers specialty P&C insurance in areas where traditional insurance is not applicable. Then you have companies like American International Group (AIG) who sell an extensive line of P&C products in addition to numerous other insurance products.

In parentheses are listed some areas of focus for the company. The companies on this list are large-cap companies with a market capitalization over ten billion dollars. We update this list at the beginning of each month so it is possible that a company falls below ten billion dollars between updates.
