When compared to their mid and large-cap peers, the publicly traded small and micro-cap property and casualty companies tend to have more specialized focus in their product offerings. Many of these smaller-sized companies are narrowly focused in a niche market or on a specific type of property and casualty area (homeowners, commercial auto, etc.). The range of operations is also at times much narrower than larger companies with some of these companies only having operations in a specific state or region of the United States.

These companies are separated by market capitalization.

• Small-Cap Stocks: These companies have a market capitalization over 300 million dollars but under two billion dollars.
• Micro-Cap Stocks: These companies have a market capitalization under 300 million dollars.
