List of Publicly Traded Newspapers Listed on Major U.S. Exchanges

The newspaper industry has undergone a tremendous transformation in the last 20 years. Today all of the public companies on this list own multiple digital assets, oftentimes hundreds of assets, in addition to the daily and weekly publications that the publish. In addition to digital media, many of the company publish niche publications for a variety of industries, hobbies and interests.

While newspapers are certainly more diversified in their assets then they were decades ago, the brands that the newspapers own are still strong in their respective marketplaces. Many of the newspapers these companies own have been published for more than 50 years and in some cases more than 100 years. This length of existence and brand recognition is certainly something many publicly traded companies cannot claim.

Also included in this category are publicly traded companies who publish magazines.
