List of Long/Short ETFs Listed on U.S. Exchanges
These ETFs utilize a strategy in which the ETF/index providers simultaneously establish long and short positions. Generally, based on their evaluation of the securities, the index/ETF provider will establish long positions on securities they find attractive and establish short positions on securities they find unattractive. The provider may also employ a long/short strategy to achieve the stated objective of the fund. For example, QuantShares U.S. Market Neutral Anti-Beta Fund (BTAL) employs a long/short strategy in an attempt to provide investors the spread return between low and high beta stocks.
