The companies in these ETFs are part of the health care sector with pharmaceutical companies making up a large percentage of the represented companies. The primary difference between these two ETFs is the iShares ETF (IXJ) includes companies from the United States, with U.S. companies making up approximately two-thirds of the ETF when we last checked (the numbers can vary depending on market activity). The SPDR ETF (IRY) excludes U.S. companies which results in countries like Switzerland, Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany having more weight within the ETF.
