Global Regional ETFs
It is truly amazing the choices investors have today. This selection of ETFs gives investors a wide array of ETF choices from specific regions around the world. Here is a little on each section to help narrow down your search for the investment that is right for you.
Africa: There are three African ETFs with only one that is entirely focused on Africa. The other two are heavily weighted towards Africa but also include companies from the Middle East and/or Eastern Europe.
Asia and Asia-Pacific: While many of the Asia-Pacific ETFs are weighted towards Japan and/or Australia, China and South Korea do sometimes make an appearance in these ETFs. The Asia ETFs are exclusively focused on the Asian region and have a lot of variation in the ETF offerings. If you are looking for ETFs that are weighted towards China you will have several selections to choose from.
BRIC and BICK: Both ETF categories have companies from Brazil, China and India. BRIC includes companies from Russia while BICK includes companies from South Korea along with the other three countries.
Eastern Europe: A limited selection of choices with one ETF focusing primarily on companies from Russia and Poland with the other focusing on companies from Russia, Poland and Turkey.
Europe: The largest global regional category with over 30 ETFs focusing on this region. There is the wide array of choices that many investors have become accustomed to including broad ETFs, sector ETFs, leveraged ETFs, hedged ETFs, large and small-cap ETFs and dividend ETFs. Some of these ETFs exclude the United Kingdom and focus exclusively on Eurozone countries.
Latin America: A handful of choices that are primarily weighted towards companies from Brazil and Mexico.
Middle East: The most represented countries in the ETFs that focus on this region are Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. There are a couple of ETFs that focus exclusively on the Middle East and a couple that include companies from the Middle East with companies from other emerging market regions.
Nordic: There is only one ETF currently in this category that include companies from Demark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
